Kirin’s Chosen is a turn-based card combat game built around tactical planning, readable combat, and meaningful trade-offs.
As Lead Game Designer, I designed the core combat rules, full card set, progression, and the game’s three-slot execution system. Players queue up to three cards each turn, with card order and position shaping how the turn resolves and forcing choices between aggression, defence, and setup.
I balanced the game through iterative playtesting, refining card interactions, pacing, difficulty, and clarity while keeping the system approachable.
I also led a small multidisciplinary team across art, UI, audio, and writing, defining design constraints and maintaining a consistent vision throughout a year long development cycle.
